Application Information for students from abroad

Welcome at Ruhr-University Bochum’s School of Management and Economics!

Our school offers Bachelor (B.Sc. and M.A.) as well as Master (M.Sc. and M.A.) programs. In what follows we give a brief description of our admission procedures.

Management and Economics (B.Sc.)

Applications from abroad are processed by our International office. For any information about your application and admission requirements please refer to http://international.rub.de/bewerbung/index.html.en.

Double Bachelor Programs (B.A.)

The Ruhr-University also offers the opportunity to enroll in a double program. In those programs you select two topics to study, while each of the topics chosen is weighted about equally. There is a broad range of subjects that can be combined. As one of your chosen subjects you can either decide for Management or for Economics. The topic chosen then can be combined with another humanity or natural science. Applications are processed by our International Office, please refer to http://international.rub.de/bewerbung/index.html.en.

Master Programs

We also offer 4 Master programs: Management M.Sc., Management and Economics M.Sc., Economics M.Sc., and East Asian Economics (M.A.). If you want to apply for one of those programs, you should be able to meet the following requirements:

Management M.Sc.

You must have a bachelor degree in Management, Economics or a related subject covering at least 180 ECTS-Points. You must also meet the following requirements: As part of your bachelor degree you must have obtained at least 60 ECTS-Points in Management, 40 ECTS-Points in Economics and 15 ECTS-Points in Mathematics and/or Statistics and 10 ECTS-Points for your bachelor thesis. Please make sure that your application covers the information needed to check whether or not those requirements are met. Specifically, your university certificates should not only provide your grades but also state clearly the number of ECTS-Points awarded for each of your courses. Applications without this information can not be processed.
There is also a rule of exception. You may apply event without meeting the above requirements if you have an excellent bachelor degree in a related field, e.g. psychology, statistics, or mathematics. By excellent we mean that your average grade is A- or better. Though we make exceptions, we handle this rule very restrictive.

Applications should be sent to the Ruhr-University’s International Office, for further information see http://international.rub.de/bewerbung/index.html.en. Application deadline for the summer term 2011 is March 15, 2011. Courses will start in the first week of April 2011.
